A2. Registrant Verification process
-----------------------
As required by its contract with ICANN, DotCoop needs to ensure registrants meet the above defined eligibility criteria. Verification is the process of assuring that all organizations that register a .coop TLD name are eligible. Note the Verification process is a one-time process for new Registrants only. Once the Registrant is deemed "Verified", the the Verification process is not required for other domains for the same registrant.
Process is as follows:
1. As soon as a registration for .coop domain name is submitted by a new registrant the verification process is initiated and the registrant receives an email by dotCoop asking them to provide confirmation or evidence that they are eligible for their .coop registration. Registrant will have two (2) days to respond to .coop with required information. PLease note the domain will be placed on "server-hold" during this process and until Registrant is "Verified".
2. DotCoop will request Registrant for information to support their eligibility - Please see section above- "Further information required to determine eligibility"
3. If the registrant is found to be eligible, then the registrant status is set to "Verified". An email from DotCoop confirming eligibility is automatically sent to the registrant by the system confirming this. The domain names will also be activated in this instance.
4. If dotCoop cannot confirm the registrant as eligible or the registrant fails to respond to the initial email by dotCoop requesting information, the registrant status is set as "Able to Appeal". In this instance, the registry will send another email to the registrant notifying that they'll have thirty (30) days in which to provide above or aditional information to support their application.
5. If no response is received from registrant during the "Able to Appeal" 30 day period, Registry may contact registry via telephone. If telephone or email address are not operational, Registry may immediately terminate registration at the end of the 30 day period.
6. If Registry receives required information within the 30 day period, registrant status will be set to "Under Investigation". In this instance, registry will appear in the .coop zone and once the eligibility is confirmed, the Registrant status will then be set to "Verified". Registrant will be sent confirmation email.
7. Should all information supplied not be sufficient to support registrant eligibility and dotCoop determines that the registrant is ineligible, the Registrant status will finally be set to "Refused". Please note orders will fail at this point and the registrant record is marked as deleted and the names that were registered by that registrant will be made available for registration by others.
